Georgetown Visitation, founded in 1799, is an all-girls high school rooted in the Roman Catholic faith and Salesian tradition, committed to educating young women from diverse backgrounds. The Contracted, PT Technical Director serves under the guidance of the Performing Arts Director. The technical theater program at Visitation has a strong tradition of encouraging students to develop problem-solving, critical thinking, and creative skills through the introduction to and mastery of technical theater principles and practical skills attainment.

Successful candidates will have a bachelor’s degree and demonstrate significant experience in technical theater, preferably in a secondary education environment, and strong practical teaching skills. Demonstrated proficiency in the following skill areas is required: 

• Sound engineering; 
• Lighting design and programing (experience with MyDMX software and ETC Ion lighting console, preferred);
• Costume construction, to include design, pattern development and sewing;
• Scenic design and construction, to include drafting and materials sourcing;
• and instruction and oversight of 35-50 students in a hands-on learning environment with the support of student department heads.

This position requires weekend work. Below is a sample schedule:

• September – May (excluding regularly scheduled breaks): Fridays from 3:45pm to 7:30pm; Saturdays from 10am-4pm
• Tech weeks: 3:45pm – 7pm (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday)
• Show weeks: 3:45pm – 8pm (Monday, Tuesday); 4:00 – 10:00pm (Friday & Saturday performances); 12:00 -7:30pm (Sunday matinee and Strike)
