Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School invites applications for a full-time position as a teacher in the English Department for the 2023-2024 academic year. Located in Washington, DC, and founded in 1799, Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School educates young women in grades 9 – 12 in a faith-centered community focused on educational excellence and rooted in the Roman Catholic faith and Salesian tradition.
Successful candidates should have a strong academic background in American and world literature, grammar, and composition as well as previous teaching experience in the subject at the secondary level, along with energy, enthusiasm, and a desire to communicate and work with young women. Advanced Placement (AP) experience is valued but not required. Candidates should also demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in both their pedagogy and the literature they teach. Candidates must also be willing to work closely with departmental colleagues in a collaborative setting and to attend school-wide events and regular departmental and faculty meetings. Bachelor’s degree in a related field required, Master’s preferred.
