Vital Voices Club Attends Organization's Global Leadership Awards

Visitation's Vital Voices club returned from Easter break a little early last week, as they joined club moderator and Dean of Students Eve Grimaldi at the Vital Voices 17th Annual Global Leadership Awards on Wednesday, April 4. Vital Voices partners with women who are changemakers and community activists to bring their dreams into reality. Held at the Kennedy Center, the 17th Annual Global Leadership Awards honored some of these incredible female leaders.

Eighteen students had the opportunity to hear from and meet these women at the event. Honorees included Jamira Burley, founder of GenYNot and the first American citizen to receive the Global Award, and Lina Khalifeh of Jordan, who won the "Economic Empowerment Award" for teaching women how to defend themselves as part of her non-profit, SheFighter. Co-founder Hilary Clinton made a surprise appearance during the evening's program.
