The Visitation Fathers' Club (VFC) hosted local television and radio personality Hillary Howard (WTOP) for their second Father-Daughter Speaker Series event, a new offering from the VFC this year. They previously hosted C-SPAN founder Brian Lamb in late 2020.
Howard shared her personal journey starting in TV and radio and specifically shone a light on her unique experience as a woman in the industry.
"She gave us really good advice," said Ally Hamilton '22. "The main thing she emphasized throughout the event was that the most important thing in any situation is to be authentic and true to yourself." Ally noted that Howard's remarks correlated to a well-known Visi motto: "Be who you are and be that well" (St. Francis de Sales).
Lauren Martino '23 agreed. "I really enjoyed listening to her talk about overcoming challenges in one’s career and keeping your self worth while still being true to yourself," she echoed. "It was very inspiring to know that even if some people don’t think you can do it, you need to believe in yourself and keep doing what you want to do."
The VFC Father-Daughter Speaker Series is open to current and alumna fathers and daughters. Alumna fathers can request to be added to the VFC email list here.
