Patricia Jones Honored for Salesian Leadership
Ms. Patricia Jones, Food Service Associate, was honored with the Dan Kerns Salesian Leadership Award on Thursday, January 22. The award, named for former Head of School Dan Kerns, has been presented annually since 2022 to one or more faculty and/or staff members who have demonstrated remarkable dedication to upholding Salesian values and virtues within the school community. Previous winners include Kenny Purcell, Laurie Collins Quirk ‘74, Amy Devere, Raynetta Jackson-Clay, and Luis Lopez.
In presenting the award, Mrs. Kati Krueger '99, Director of the St. Jane de Chantal Salesian Center, said, "I see the spirit of St. Jane de Chantal in Miss Patricia. Jane was the belle of the ball, a determined mother and leader, and compassionate to all."
Patricia first joined Visitation's facilities team more than 25 years ago. A wonderful conversationalist and equally attentive listener, Patricia shines in her day-to-day interactions with students -- "her girls!" -- and faculty. She radiates the Little Virtue of hospitality with her joyful energy.
Patricia is often behind-the-scenes in her role on campus, but she's also on the frontlines with girls, knowing they are capable of greatness and encouraging them to become their best selves. She is a giver and a helper, and always looks for what she can do next. She attends prom (she loves to dance and celebrate), oversees Model UN trips, and for many years, chaperoned service trips to the St. Francis Inn in Philadephia, even recently coming together with Visitation alumnae to serve there once again. She does it all with a gentle, humble heart.
"Patricia, you shine with St. Jane’s generosity of spirit, her desire for everyone to be the beautiful craftwork of God almighty, and her perseverance to be true in the midst of all sorts of life’s storms," said Krueger. "You are a gift to our community."
Closing the ceremony, Dan Kerns called Patricia a good friend, colleague, and mentor, thanking her for being "an 'everyday saint,' and a 'great-souled woman' who wholeheartedly embodies the spirit of the Visitation."
We are grateful, Ms. Patricia, for your service to Visitation. Live Jesus!
