Chorus & Madrigals Perform at CUA Concert
Visitation's chorus and Madrigals performed at The Catholic University of America earlier this month, who were hosting second annual DC Music Educators' Association convention. Visitation was chosen from applications from area schools earlier in the fall to perform as part of the conference.
"It was wonderful for our students to have the opportunity to perform, each performance we are getting better and better, and the venue gets bigger and bigger," said Performing Arts Director Dr. Liz Turner. "For some of our students, it was their first time visiting Catholic University, let alone a college campus. The girls loved getting to visit a real college campus, and to see what a music department looks like at the professional level."
They performed core songs like "Live Jesus" and the school's alma mater, "Cor Jesu," in addition to favorites from the Christmas concert, "Pie Jesu" and "Winter Starlight." They also performed jazz songs "Sing, Sing, Sing" and "When You're Smiling."
"I'm most proud of our students for showing up to their performance with their best professionalism despite the cold weather and the snow storm that weekend! Due to the snow days and President Carter's funeral, we had no rehearsal time, but it was our best performance yet," Turner noted.
They are next set to perform on Tuesday, February 11 in the Nolan Center at 6 p.m. for a Valentine's Concert, which is free and open to the public.
