Other Ways of Giving

HOW CAN I MAKE A GIFT TO THE VISITATION FUND?

Gifts to the Visitation Fund can be made ONLINE on our secure server using Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover cards.

OTHER WAYS TO MAKE A GIFT ARE:

CHECK

Checks are always welcome and should be made payable to "The Visitation Fund." Mail to:

The Visitation Fund
Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School
1524 Thirty-fifth Street NW
Washington, DC 20007

COMBINED FEDERAL CAMPAIGN AND UNITED WAY

Visitation's designated CFC Code is 44467. Our United Way Code is 8292. To give through either organization, please enter the appropriate number on your contribution form and let the Development Office know the amount of your gift. (CFC and United Way only provide us with a list of contributors' names, not the dollar amount of their gifts.)

MATCHING GIFT

Many employers match the charitable contributions of their employees. Some even match the gifts of spouses and retirees as well. If your employer has a matching gift program, you must usually obtain a matching gift form from your company and send it to Visitation along with your own contribution. The Development Office will complete the form and return it to your employer.

PLEDGE

Donors may make a pledge to the Visitation Fund by mail or phone. Pledges are to be paid by the end of the fiscal year, which is June 30. The Development Office will send pledge reminders.

STOCK

*PLEASE NOTE: Stock gift instructions have recently changed. Please contact the school for details.*

If you would like to make a gift of stock to Visitation (and to ensure that you are properly credited for the gift), please contact Advancement Director Nathalie Bergin Sullivan '71 at 202.787.5676 or email nathalie.sullivan@visi.org

REAL ESTATE

A gift of real estate provides the donor an income-tax benefit, since the market value of appreciated property is deductible. Property can be donated with the provision that the donor will continue to occupy it. Please contact the Development Office for more information.

LIFE INSURANCE

A gift of life insurance allows the donor to make a substantial contribution to Visitation. The gift can be a paid-up policy no longer needed by the owner, or a new policy can be purchased naming the school as the beneficiary.  For assistance, please contact Advancement Director Nathalie Bergin Sullivan '71 at 202.337.3350, ext. 2284, or 202.787.5676 (direct), or email nathalie.sullivan@visi.org.

BEQUEST

A bequest is a gift made through a will. It can be given as a specific amount, as a percentage of an estate, or as a remainder share. A bequest reduces the size of the taxable portion of an estate and can lower federal estate tax liability. A codicil naming Visitation as a beneficiary can be added to an existing will.

Those who set up bequests or other planned gifts to Visitation (and notify the school) are welcomed into the 1799 Society, given special recognition, and invited to a President's Council event each year.

For assistance, please contact Advancement Director Nathalie Bergin Sullivan '71 at 202.337.3350, ext. 2284, or 202.787.5676 (direct), or email nathalie.sullivan@visi.org.

OTHER DEFERRED GIFT

There are a variety of trust arrangements that can be set up that can benefit both Georgetown Visitation and your family. Through a remainder gift, a donor may contribute assets to Visitation, retaining the income from these assets for life. Through an income interest gift, a donor may contribute the income from an asset while retaining ownership of that asset. Both types of gifts can offer immediate and future tax advantages. For more details, please contact the Development Office.
