Instrumental Music

Each year Visitation welcomes talented musicians to our school community. The goal of the instrumental music program is to provide performance opportunities that enhance musical repertoires and advance technical skills.

Recognizing varied musical interests and levels of experience, Visitation's musicians perform as chamber ensembles, woodwind groups, and as the pit orchestra for the school's musical productions. The repertory explores a variety of musical styles and traditions, including classical music, concert music, jazz, ragtime, musical theater, pop, and more.

Closely connected with the traditions of the school community, the instrumental ensembles perform with the Visitation Chorus, the Madrigal Singers, and in parlor/salon concerts.

During the course of the 2003-2004 academic year, the instrumental music program will expand with the development of a chamber orchestra, assisted by professional musicians who will work and play with the students to create new performance opportunities.
