Hurricane Harvey Drive Raises Over $2,000 for Victims
Jeanne-Marie Pelletier Collects Funds for Harvey Victims

Moved by the images of devastation wrought on the city of Houston and inspired by stories from family friends there, Jeanne-Marie Pelletier '18 resolved to take action. Armed with cowboy boots from childhood visits to her grandmother in Houston and rain boots like those rescuers are wearing, Jeanne-Marie envisioned a "fill the boot" campaign at Visitation, with funds going to local organizations who can help residents directly.

In just three days, Jeanne-Marie raised over $2,000 from Visitation students, parents, faculty, and staff. Together, Jeanne-Marie, Head of School Dan Kerns, and Principal Mary Kate Blaine decided to donate the proceeds to Visitation alumnae in need, Catholic Charities of Houston, and St. Agnes Academy, an all-girls Catholic school in Houston.

Jeanne-Marie was delighted by her the community's enthusiastic response to the drive, "I'm really amazed by how giving people were and how the Visitation community came together to support this effort." It is a wonderful example of the Salesian Little Virtues of thoughtful concern for others and generosity alive and at work at Visitation.
