Athletics
Scoreboard
Visitation offers one of the strongest athletic programs in the area. Our student-athletes win awards and recognition, but also take away powerful lessons and life skills from their time in the playing arena.
We offer Freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity level competition, as well as no-cut sports like Cross Country and Track, so there's a home for every athlete. Our teams are consistently competitive across the board, earning banners and winning championships. Our student-athletes earn recognition as All-League and Washington Post All-Met athletes and even national honors, while many continue their careers at the collegiate level.
The strength of our program goes far beyond awards and banners, however. Our student-athletes build pride and confidence through practice and hard work. They learn the rewards of teamwork, good sportsmanship, patience, and perseverance.

Facilities
Although located in the heart of the city, Visitation boasts excellent athletic facilities:
- 2 playing fields (1 Bermuda grass and 1 artificial surface)
- 4 tennis courts
- 1 Athletic Center
This award-winning sports complex includes classrooms, a weight and aerobics room, a training room, visiting- and home-team locker rooms, a student lounge, and a gym with seating for 500.
All of our teams practice on campus, with the exception of:
- Crew - practices nearby on the Potomac River
- Swim & Dive - practices at the University of DC
Coaches
Over the course of her athletic career, a Visi girl will learn from coaches who bring a full range of athletic experiences.
A number of Visitation teachers continue their involvement beyond the academic day by coaching, and a large number of alumnae have returned to pass on their experience and knowledge to the current students who follow in their footsteps.

Junior Vivian Kelly was named the 2023-2024 Gatorade Cross Country Player of the Year for the District of Columbia, the second season for which she has been awarded this honor. According a press release from Gatorade, the award recognizes "excellence on the field, in the classroom and in the community."
“There’s no better way to finish the season off besides winning a championship game as your last high school game,” senior Makaela Morrell said. “It’s just really an incredible moment.”
The Washington Post covered junior Vivian Kelly's incredible cross-country finish at DCSAA, at which she placed first and the Cubs placed second overall.
