Program Overview & Forms

Visitation offers one of the strongest athletic programs in the area. Our student-athletes win awards and recognition, but also take away powerful lessons and life skills from their time on the fields and courts.

With 22 teams in 11 sports, there are many opportunities to get in the game at Visitation. We offer Freshman-, Junior Varsity-, and Varsity-level competition, as well as no-cut sports like Cross Country and Track, so there's a home for every athlete. Nearly two-thirds of our students participate in athletics at some point in their high school career.

Our teams are consistently competitive across the board, earning banners and winning championships. Our players, too, earn recognition as All-League and Washington Post All-Met athletes, and sometimes even receive national honors or college scholarships. We currently have nearly 50 alumnae playing at the college level.

The strength of our program goes far beyond awards and banners, however. Our student-athletes build pride and confidence through practice and hard work. They learn the rewards of teamwork, good sportsmanship, patience, and perseverance. Some of them believe in these values so much that they return to Visitation to help cultivate them in the next generation of athletes.

FACILITIES

Although located in the heart of the city, Visitation boasts excellent athletic facilities, including two playing fields, four tennis courts, and the Fisher Athletic Center. This award-winning sports complex, opened in 1998, provides excellent facilities for all students to enjoy. It features classrooms, a weight and aerobics room, a training room, visiting- and home-team locker rooms, a student lounge, and a gym with seating for 500.

All of our teams practice on campus, with the exception of Crew (which practices on the Potomac River) and Swim & Dive (which practices at the University of DC).
