- Founded in 1799; sponsored by the Sisters of the Visitation.
- Enrolls approximately 450 young women in grades 9-12 who live in the District of Columbia and suburban Maryland and Virginia.
- The campus is located on over 20 wooded acres in the heart of Georgetown.
- While many of our students are Roman Catholic, the school welcomes students from all backgrounds and religions.

- 100% of our graduates attend college; college counselors with a broad network of connections with college admissions directors guide students and their parents through the college selection process.
- Approximately 25% of the student body receives some financial aid; currently the school awards over $1,000,000 in aid annually.
- School colors are gold and white-students are known collectively as the cubs. Mascots are the gold tiger cub and the white bear cub. Entering freshmen are assigned to either the gold or white team; Bi-annual Gold/White weeks, a cherished tradition, encourage school spirit and promote a healthy rivalry between teams.
- Founders Hall, the main academic building, dates to 1873. It was completely reconstructed, inside its original brick walls, after a devastating fire in 1993. St. Bernardlibrary and St. Joseph Hall were renovated in 2003 & 2004.
- The Fisher Athletic Center and the Nolan Performing Arts Center, both state of the art facilities, were dedicated in 1998.
- Visitation fields teams in lacrosse, field hockey, soccer, volleyball, crew, softball, basketball, track, cross country, swimming, diving and tennis. Facilities include several tennis courts and two playing fields; crew practice is on the nearby Potomac.
- Our students are required to give eighty hours of community service prior to graduation; many give far more.
- Leadership opportunities abound in a broad co-curricular program offering something for everyone from gold-medal winning publications to award winning singing groups to theater arts to over twenty-five clubs and activities.
